Startup investment marketplace Inhouse Ventures has developed a new platform to teach aspiring early-stage investors the art of angel investing.
Inhouse Ventures cofounder Elliot Spiegel said AngelClass is also designed reduce the friction out of startup funding, automating the process and matching with investors and venture capitalists to make funding faster.
It also includes a free learning portal, where some of the country’s top angels offering their insights and lessons in investment strategies to back nascent tech companies.
Spiegel compared it to the popular TV show Shark Tank, giving people the chance to play “shark” without the cameras on.
“Angel investing is risky by nature and we’re providing all the tips and tricks for our fast-growing pool of angel investors. With these valuable learnings and insights they can then get feedback and coaching from our community of top angels to hone their skills and back winners early,” he said.
“Once they’re set up, they then get access to Inhouse Venture’s large community of founders where they can play shark and search our community for the next money spinner.”
Inhouse Ventures has more than 900+ thoroughly vetted founders, who have gone through a rigorous screening process before they are exposed to its investor community. They range from AI to agtech, and beyond, seeking investment from pre-Seed to Series A.
The marketplace has also onboarded over 90% of Australia’s VC ecosystem in just over two years.
AngelClass investors have made more than 150 investments, worth more than $5 million and already seen 10 exits.
Inhouse partner Chad Stephens said the platform prides itself on giving investors fast access to the right founders tailored to their interest areas and investment capabilities.
“Angels get personalised and vetted deal flow based on their data profile direct to their inbox,” he said
“The ultimate goal of angel investing is to 100x your investment. A number of the angels on Inhouse Ventures have achieved that, with one angel getting in on the Calm wellness app’s pre-seed round with a $10,000 cheque.
“It’s hoped by opening up AngelClass we’re creating value by allowing new players to try their hand at being a shark, leveraging the knowledge and skills of our esteemed panel and avoid common pitfalls of angel investing.”
On the investment side, AngelClass sends fortnightly video masterclasses from top angels to fast-track their understanding.
Spiegel said AngelClass creates connections between investors and founders with like-minded skills, sectors and objectives to take the friction out of funding.
“Now is the perfect time to learn and invest as more founders look to shake off the cobwebs of the fundraising freeze and seek external support once more,” he said.
“The platform’s unique technology also enables new investors to capitalise on the 20/12 rule and access early-stage investment opportunities that have until now been limited to sophisticated investors.”
