Queensland agtech startup Nbryo has raised $10 million for its livestock genetics platform.
The agri-biotech is developing a bovine IVF platform to deliver scalable, high-quality outcomes for cattle producers globally.
The round was co-led by existing investor Tenacious Ventures, and Kiwi government-backed new believer AgriZeroNZ, with the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), founding investor the Murdoch family and Mandalay Venture Partners also seeding it.
This raise also triggered the conversion of $12.3 million of the SAFE notes, bringing the total to more than $22m raised since 2024.
Nbryo, along with its research partners, also scored $18 million in grant funding for research and development from the Gates Foundation, Meat and Livestock Australia and other state and federal programs.
The new funds will be used to develop Nbryo’s proprietary IVF platform, expand its commercial IVF and Embryo Transfer (ET) services, launch embryo multiplication tech and its embryo transfer device, to launch in October 2026.
Nbryo’s in vitro embryo production (IVP) technology is breaking down barriers to advanced cattle breeding techniques for beef and dairy producers globally.
Nbryo CEO Paul Niven, said the investment gives them the potential to scale the platform to make elite cattle genetics accessible to every farmer.
“By democratising access to high-quality embryos, we believe we can transform cattle breeding efficiency and sustainability worldwide, with a number of trials already underway across Australia, New Zealand and Europe,” he said.
“With the support of our investors and the Queensland government, we have a real opportunity to build a global high-tech business here in Queensland that changes the face of beef and dairy industries everywhere.
Queensland primary industries minister Tony Perrett said Nbyro was a locally-grown solution to a global agricultural problem.
“Nbryo brings the best of Queensland agriculture and innovation together to solve one of the cattle industry’s biggest bottlenecks – affordable access to superior genetics,” he said
“Their technology is resetting the economics of cattle breeding, levelling the playing field for farmers everywhere and delivering step-change improvements in productivity and sustainability.”
