40 agrifood tech startups, one event: Here’s why AgriFutures evokeAG. is a must for Aussie investors and founders

Mia Erickson - December 19, 2022 3 MIN READ

In partnership with

After a two-year hiatus, Asia Pacific’s premier agrifood tech event is back and it’s bigger than ever.

This February, AgriFutures evokeᴬᴳ⋅ Down to Earth will bring together leading global thinkers and local innovators to connect, collaborate, and rewrite the future of agrifood tech.

Over two dynamic days (February 21 and 22), farmers, founders, researchers, investors and more will gather at the Adelaide Convention Centre to discuss food, farming and the most innovative solutions to our planet’s biggest problems.

With a diverse roster of back-to-back panel discussions, workshops, networking opportunities, exhibitions and Startup Alley, evokeᴬᴳ⋅ has assembled a lineup of the brightest minds in agri food tech today. Discussing everything from how to increase sustainability in farming and food production, to the latest technologies in biosecurity and synthetic biology, the event’s program promises to give startup founders and prospective investors plenty of food for thought.

Here are just some of the highlights:

Pitching the future

Taking place on February 20, the eve of evokeᴬᴳ⋅ 2023, The Investor Pitch Dinner will give five Australian and New Zealand investment-ready agrifood startups an opportunity to pitch to a room full of local and global investors. These pioneering companies each have strong traction in the market already, having previously raised capital in successful funding rounds.

The 2023 participants are:

  • Eighth Day Foods, a Victorian alternative-protein company producing lupin-based protein LURPREME;
  • Geora, a New South Wales based startup using data to unlock sustainable agribusiness;
  • LYRO Robotics, Queensland’s early stage robotics company focused on post-harvest packing of fresh fruit and vegetables;
  • Nanobubble Agritech, a startup from New Zealand with an agritech system that may revolutionise conventional irrigation;
  • And The Leaf Protein Company, a Victoria-based company determined to solve the lack of biodiversity in the plant protein ingredient market.

Take a trip down Startup Alley

One of the key pillars of Down to Earth is the opportunity for local and global startups and scaleups to showcase agrifood tech innovation. Over the two-day program, Startup Alley will feature 40 startups, exploring the latest groundbreaking technology and ideas from Australia’s brightest minds. See the full list here for the 2023 lineup, including BondiLabs, PostHarvest, and Zondii.

Startups will pitch their innovation and potential, scientists will offer valuable insights, and global business leaders and investors will collaborate to bring the most cutting-edge ideas to life.

During the evokeᴬᴳ⋅ Startup Showcase, seven local and global startups will take to the stage to present a three-minute showcase of their products to an international audience. This presentation is a valuable opportunity for companies to expand their networks and customer base, using the evokeᴬᴳ⋅ platform to share their ground-breaking ideas.

The 2023 Startup Showcase lineup includes presentations from Beewise, an Isreali startup using robotic beehives to combat climate change; InvertiGro, the Aussies shaking up the agricultural industry with indoor vertical farming solutions; and CropX, the New Zealand startup using data to optimise resources and results for farmers.

A scientist, a farmer and an investor walk into a bar…

Powered by AgriFutures, evokeᴬᴳ⋅ is the premier event for agrifood innovation and technology across the Asia Pacific. AgriFutures Australia is a Research and Development Corporation that services the needs of Australian rural industries, focussing on growth and sustainability. Recent reporting suggests the global agrifood tech market is set to triple by 2026 and there are predictions it’ll be Australia’s next billion-dollar industry, making events like this absolutely imperative.

evokeᴬᴳ⋅ Down to Earth 2023 marries the worlds of tech and science to explore all areas of sustainability. The future of food and farm depends on the innovative ideas and insights from experts in every field. For a chance to be part of this two-day event in February, experiencing the best of our agrifood tech community, purchase your tickets now.
