Can we all just calm down with the ridiculous job titles in the ecommerce space?

The other day I met someone who introduced themselves as a creative technologist. After 13 years working in the online world, I’ve been witness to the evolution of the online job title and it’s come a long way from it’s humble ‘e-business manager’ beginnings.

After doing a bit of research I came to the conclusion that there are nearly as many online job titles as there are salad dressing varieties and it’s starting to get confusing.

They only launched in August last year, but Canva this morning at a breakfast with newly appointed product evangelist Guy Kawasaki, gave some pretty impressive updates about their platform.

Canva has experienced rapid growth – becoming a daily tool for bloggers, marketers and small business owners worldwide. To date, over 4 million designs have been created on the platform, with 870 000 designs being created in June 2014 alone. They also have over 500,000 users on the application now, a number up from 330,000 just 8 weeks ago in April.

The one thing that the mining boom in Perth has allowed the entrepreneurial folk in Perth do well is earn great coin and save money that can be put to use down the track to turn ideas into reality. Simon Guerrero an engineer, was able to use his savings to support himself whilst only having to work part time in the initial stages of building the venture Ticketbooth with his good mate and cofounder Matthew James.
