UQ Venture’s iLab, Australia’s longest running accelerator program for early-stage startups, has merged with their later-stage Momentum accelerator for a super cohort in the second half of 2025.

But you’re keen to be part of the action, get cracking – applications for both the iLab and Momentum Accelerators close this Monday, July 7, at noon.

To take part, your startup team needs to have at least one University of Queensland-affiliated founder (current student, staff, or alumnus). Apply here

iLab Accelerator is designed to fast track early-stage ventures, at or near product-ready stage and prior to or at early revenue.

Each accepted startup scores a $15,000 SAFE note investment from UniQuest. The focus of iLab centres around refining value propositions, building go-to-market strategies, and preparing for  early funding opportunities such as grants and angel investment.

UQ Ventures’ iLab Manager, Tyson Jennings said the iLab Accelerator attracted and  fostered some of the most impressive ideas and startups in the country.

“Founders from the likes of Blunge, Flashback, Lilo, Fitcover and Polinate have all  participated in the program,” he said.

“We’re so excited to see what this super cohort produces  and can’t wait to meet our new successful participants.”

Lilo Living founder Jenna Donnelly the program was pivotal in the acceleration of her startup, providing insights, knowledge and mentorship.

“I’m now part of the startup community, with access to experienced founders, investors  and industry experts, which is all thanks to the iLab program,” she said.

Building momentum

Funded by the QIC’s Queensland Venture Capital Development Fund (VCDF), the Momentum accelerator is designed for later-stage technology startups that are product ready, in-market, and demonstrating revenue or traction.

One will receive a $100,000 investment from UniQuest (subject to due diligence). Programming includes sessions on scaling  operations, securing venture investment, and preparing for sustainable growth.

Momentum Accelerator program boss Yasarth Krishna said its core mission of Momentum was to foster founder growth alongside a real commercial outcome.

“Previous founders and startups have experienced their acceleration through the  development of capabilities to scale and effectively lead with confidence, ” he said.

“The calibre of  startups we’ve seen to date are nothing short of inspiring and we can’t wait to see what  the super cohort brings next semester,.”

The combined initiative will culminate in the UQ Ventures ScaleUP  Showcase, featuring prominent speakers and mentors, breakout sessions, and investor-connect opportunities. The startups involved will take part in an innovation showcase, with the semi-finalist  heading on to the grand finale pitch for investment.

Both programs run for 15 weeks and kick off on August 6.  Apply here
