Founders Factory, the global startup accelerator and early-stage investor, has opened applications for their next WA Nature Tech Accelerator.
The WA accelerator is a unique opportunity for founders in the nature tech space.
It offers both capital support along with a four-month program. It’s been designed for founders developing and advancing new biodiversity and the sustainability technologies.
Founders Factory, is now in its third semester and is welcoming applications for the next accelerator, which kicks off in August 2025.
The program
This year, the Nature Tech Accelerator, will back another six startups across the following themes to support diversification and decarbonisation.
- Biodiversity
- Land and forest
- Water and oceans
- Regenerative agriculture and soil health
- Nature positive industry
- nature financing
- Social and community impact.
Masterclasses will be given on a range of topics, including product development, strategy and operations, commercialisation, data science, partnerships, and fundraising – all with 1-2-1 mentoring.
The program also includes a residential week in Perth, where startups are invited to pitch in front of investors, meet potential customers, and engage with WA’s thriving startup community.
As Tamryn Barker, nature tech sector director at Founders Factory, says:
“WA has the opportunity to be a global leader in nature and biodiversity solutions, through fostering support for early stage startups before exporting these across the country and globally.”
Indeed it seems WA is the place to be for founders of nature tech to be.
“In our first year in Perth, we’ve glimpsed the great potential of the Western Australian startup community to address some of the biggest challenges we’re facing across nature and biodiversity,” she says.
Big backing
Backed by the Government of Western Australia, Nature Tech is also supported by enterprise.
Last year, the accelerator launched alongside Founders Factory’s Mining Tech Accelerator, which was supported by global mining group Rio Tinto.
Since then, Founders Factory has made 12 investments through the WA Nature Tech Accelerator – all startups that are innovating the nature tech space.
They include:
- SeaStock – A Fremantle-based startup using seaweed and algae for innovative solutions across industry.
- Call To Country – Empowering organisations to embed cultural competency and Indigenous engagement into their operations.
- Nitronic – A sustainable fertiliser producer.
- X-Centric – Developing portable high performance instruments for soil testing.
