The annual Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Renewables Startup Showcase will return to Sydney in November and the hunt is now on for startups looking for investment to take part.
Innovation Bay, the membership community for technology founders and investors, is collaborating with ARENA for the fifth year of the event, on Thursday, November 21.
Applications are now open for early-stage founders in the renewables, clean tech and climate tech sectors to be featured. It will connect Australia’s most promising startups with Australia’s investment community, including leading angel investors, VC firms, private equity and the corporate VC community.
ARENA CEO Darren Miller said the showcase has been designed to highlight up-and-coming renewable, clean tech and climate tech startups that are looking to raise capital or expand in the next two to three years.
“The work that startups are doing in the renewable energy and climate change sector is of critical importance if Australia is going to achieve its goal of net zero emissions,” he said.
“The ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase has become the premier event to ensure these visionary founders are connected with the right investors so that innovation in this sector continues to thrive. It’s exciting to again partner with Innovation Bay to present the Showcase and introduce the next generation of renewable technology to the world.”
The program takes place over a series of weeks, offering startups the chance not just to present at the gala event, but to engage with the broader Innovation Bay community of founders and investors in the lead-up to the event to get unique insights on how to hone a pitch and get investment ready.
Start-ups that have previously been featured at the Showcase include electrolyser technology developer and manufacturer Hysata, Startup Daily’s 2023 Startup of The Year, which went on to raise a record $172 million Series B, as well as solar panels maker 5B, RayGen, MGA Thermal, Infravision, and Sicona.
Innovation Bay CEO Phaedon Stough said applications reviewed on a rolling basis, with four companies will be selected to present at the Gala to an audience of investors.
“We’re incredibly proud to continue this long-standing partnership with ARENA and I grow more inspired each year seeing the thriving innovation that is happening in the Australian renewables, climate tech and clean tech sectors,” he said.
“The ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase is the vehicle to match the best startups with the right investors. As we look to the future and the next phase of renewables, there has never been a more important time to foster the growth of this sector.”
Early-stage founders in the renewables, clean tech and climate tech sectors have until midnight on Monday, September 30, to apply here.
